NEW DELHI, India: India will purchase 56 Airbus C295 aircraft as part of its program to replace the Indian Air Force's aging AVRO fleet.

Airbus confirmed that the contract entails delivery of 16 of its planes prepared for immediate flight from its Seville-based Spanish manufacturing plant.

As part of the make-in-India program, the manufacturing and assembling of the remaining 40 planes will take place at India's Tata Advanced Systems under an industrial collaboration involving the two firms.
